are excited to announce that as a part of our efforts to reach out into
the community, we will be developing a number of Local Bike Groups
tasked with engaging community members and local stakeholders in the
refinement of our plans for the city’s bike network, as a resource to
help us fulfill our role as a stakeholder in various city projects
related to the bike network, and to generally get people excited about
biking across the city.
The areas to be covered by the local bike groups will mirror the city of Winnipeg’s 5 community committees (City Centre, Assiniboia, Lord Selkirk-West Kildonan, East Kildonan-Transcona, and the Riel Community Committee). Each of these committees is made up of 3 council wards.
objective of the local bike groups is to draw on neighbourhood-level
expertise to help refine plans for the bike network, to identify and
engage local stakeholders, and to actively engage the public in the
vision and mission of Bike Winnipeg to make cycling in Winnipeg a safe,
enjoyable, accessible and convenient transportation choice year round.
We are working to build a city where every road is safe for cycling, all
bike paths are connected, and riding a bike is normal and always fun.
If you are interested in learning more about our Local Bike Groups, we will be having an open house in Point Douglas (part of the Lord Selkirk-West Kildonan community committee) on Friday January 31 from 6-8 pm. The Little Brown Jug (336 William Ave) has generously donated their space for our event.

Bike Winnipeg is an inclusive group of people and organizations working to make cycling in Winnipeg a safe, enjoyable, accessible and convenient transportation choice year-round. The organization has been a strong participant in active transportation development initiatives and stakeholder committees for public consultation since it was incorporated in 2007. We are proud of what we have accomplished, and we have big ideas to help continue improving active transportation facilities for people from 8-80 in this great city!
