Bicycle Valet!

Hey friends! We know you love Bicycle Valet because you ask us about it all the time! We have a few events coming up:

Clean Air Day - June 5

Ellice Street Festival - June 7 and 8

Kilterpalooza - June 8

BUT we desperately need volunteers! It’s super easy, you get to hang out with other bike people, or you can bring your own bike people with you! We’ll provide snacks and the chance to park some bikes! View the full call for volunteers here.

Please sign up for a shift here! We appreciate you!

CAA Free Bike Tune up - Saturday, June 1

Are you ready for a safe bicycling season?! CAA Manitoba can help! In collaboration with Bike Winnipeg, The WRENCH and Valour Community Centre, CAA will host its 3rd annual free Bike Tune-Up Day on Saturday, June 1st from 9 AM – 2 PM.

Bring your bicycle for a free tune-up, and learn the basics so you’re prepared to do your own tune-up in the years ahead. Come with the kids and their bikes. We’ll have snacks and juice boxes available as well!

Bike Week

Look, I’m going to be honest: We’re just not going to be able to get a lot of cooking done from June 9-15. The house will be in disarray and the laundry… well, let’s hope for the best. There will be early mornings, late nights and not enough water, or sunscreen. But I can tell you what there will be: a whole lot of riding bikes, seeing our bike friends, and making new bike friends.

There’s Bike To Work Day, Kiddical Mass, Local Group Rides, Picnics and face-painting… I think there’s face painting! If not, I’ll bring my crayons, but all I can draw is cat whiskers, so, you’ve been warned.

We’ll dedicate a whole newsletter to it next week, but for now, I just wanted to let you know that you too, will be very busy! Check out the Bike Week website here and start marking up your calendars! And please come by and say hi!

Safety Concerns Survey from RRC Polytechnic Students

Last week we got an email from the students at  Red River College Technology Management Program inviting us to join their survey about the safety perception of cycling in Winnipeg.

We would love for you to take some time to fill it out here!

Save the Date: First Fridays Group Ride to the Exchange District

We’re still a week away, but I wanted you to save the date for the next First Fridays Group Ride on June 7th. If you live in the South end of the city, you’re not going to want to miss the event we’re holding in partnership with the Exchange District BIZ! ! We’ll be leaving this spot at 6:30 pm. Check out the map for the route, and definitely add it to your calendar.

Coffee Outside - Every Friday 7-9 AM

This past Friday Ian and Steve braved the rain and handed out some delicious Harrison’s Coffee at Bonnycastle Park. We will be there again this Friday, but please note that we arrive around 7:10 and we stop serving free coffee at 8:30.
