North East Exchange District Engineering Study Open House

March 25, 2014 @ 16:00 - 19:30

Over the years, the North East Exchange District has changed significantly. An area that was once primarily industrial is now evolving into a diverse neighbourhood of businesses, cultural and educational facilities, and residences.

The City of Winnipeg would like to coordinate and prioritize future infrastructure improvements (roads, bike paths, sidewalks, street furniture, streetscaping, underground services, etc.) in this area. These improvements will compliment future development and ensure the District is walkable and accessible for all. What type of infrastructure improvements would YOU like to see in this area? Please join project consultants MMM Group and the City of Winnipeg at this open house and share your ideas.

The objectives of the plan are to:

  • Ensure the rights-of-way are compatible with the anticipated land use.
  • Ensure all planned surface works are coordinated with planned underground improvements.
  • Ensure the area is walkable and accessible.
  • Provide recommendations to improve the rideability, drainage and condition of the pavement for the streets in the area.
  • Ensure public transit amenities are accessible and available.
  • Identify any improvements to bicycle parking or facilities.
  • Ensure the design conforms to Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles.
  • Provide sustainable and practical solutions for new tree installations, street lighting and other amenities.
  • Determine future loading needs and on street parking supply.

Format:  Drop-in
