I’m writing this instead of riding my bike along with other women in their fancy dresses because our group ride got cancelled due to smoke from wild fires.
It’s hard to watch our forests burn, knowing we’re doing everything we can, but without more intervention from our political leadership, it just isn’t enough. I felt I needed to take the time to honour all the work that women are doing in our community.
This week, we had two women represent our wishes at City Hall: one of them board director, Wendy Van Loon, wife of Rob Jenner who was killed on Wellington Crescent last year, and the other Aro Van Dyck, Bike Winnipeg member and respected community organizer.
