Bike Winnipeg Member Special General Meeting – Charitable Status

Bike Winnipeg invites all members to attend a Special General Meeting (SGM) in order to approve a change to our Articles of Incorporation.

In order to achieve charitable status, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requires that a clear expression of our charitable purposes be stated in our Articles of Incorporation.

Article 5 – Undertakings of the Corporation

To replace the following

To advance, support, and encourage cycling as a safe, enjoyable, accessible, and convenient transportation choice year-round.

With the following

To protect and preserve the environment for the benefit of the public by preventing and reducing air pollution by enabling and promoting cycling as a form of transportation for the public in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
To advance education by providing workshops and other training activities on topics related to cycling safety and sustainable transportation

This amendment will update our stated purpose to reflect our charitable objectives, consistent with the requirements of the CRA.

To amend the Articles of Incorporation, the Manitoba Companies Act requires a Special Resolution that is voted on by our membership.
