Many thanks to everyone who has responded so far to the call for Pedal Poll volunteers. Vélo Canada Bikes has noticed the tremendous response here in Winnipeg. Last year, we filled 20 shifts and so far this year, people have committed to 42!
Your work on the Pedal Poll will inform policy makers and planners and, armed with this data, we can advocate for more infrastructure.
It’s not too late to sign for a shift if you want to get involved. It’s easy, and you get to look at all the cool bikes going by. Sign up here!
By the way, in the case of bad weather, you can do your weekday shift on any of Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday this week, or next, as long as you do the same time slot. Same goes for the weekend shifts; just stick to the time period you signed up to count.
Many thanks also to City Centre local bike group chair Steve West for his work on this. He worked closely with our contacts at Vélo Canada Bikes, ensuring the survey sites were updated! And huge thanks to board member Ian McCausland for doing the local promotion through our social media.
